MGA Memorial Tournament (FOUR-Man)

The format of play will be an 18-hole four-person best ball net 90% handicap. Teams will be formed at random as ABCD pairings. (One A player, B player, C player and D player handicaps.) Each player will tee off and play their own ball.

MGA Individual Match Play Championship

ALL FIRST ROUND MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED ON MAY 10th. Sign up as an individual and the flights and seeding will be prepared according to your handicap index. The competing players, in compliance with “match play tournament rules” will schedule all subsequent matches. Each match will be played within a three-week interval.

Individual Match Play Tournament Rules:
Scorecards must be turned in to the Golf Shop and scores will be posted as tournament scores. For all holes not completed, adjustments must be made according to USGA Rules, “section 4: Adjusted Hole Scoring” USGA Handicap System: Remember, all holes must have a score recorded for all players. How to score holes not played: if it is a stroke hole with your handicap, you can post a bogey. If you get two strokes, you can post a double bogey. If you do not stroke, you must post a par. (USGA Handicap System sect 4-2)

MGA Two-Man Match Play Championship
May 31-June 1, Sat & Sun / AM Tee Times / Meal: No / Entry Fee: $45
Sign up as a team or as an individual and we will attempt to pair you up. ALL FIRST & SECOND ROUND MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED ON JUNE 1 & 2, NO EXCEPTIONS. ROUNDS 3 & 4 WILL BE PLAYED JUNE 21 & 22! There is only one flight in this tournament and seeding will be done by a draw. Matches will be 18 holes net best ball using 90% of your handicap. Your most current handicap index or tournament index (whichever is lowest and does not exceed your MGA maximum handicap index) is the index you will use. The winners will be given a spot on the Silver/Quail team, which will play September 27 & 28.

Pick a partner and sign up as a two-man team or sign up as an individual and we will attempt to pair you up with someone who has a compatible handicap. Players on each team must be within 10 handicap strokes of each other. Teams with more than a 10 - stroke difference will be adjusted. Format is 36-hole stroke play using the stableford system of scoring. First round is best ball - points and the second round is total team point’s. Handicaps are at 90%. Pairings will be announced Friday June 27 stag dinner!

MGA Ryder Cup / Two-Man
Sept 13 -14, Sat & Sun / 8:30 am SG’s / Meal: Stag Dinner Friday, Lunch, Sunday / Entry Fee: $75
Sign up as a team or as an individual and we will attempt to pair you up with someone with a compatible handicap. This is four tournaments in one format with each format consisting of 9 holes (alternate shot net – best ball net – scramble net – 2 ball net). Team handicaps will be established based on 90%. Teams with handicaps more than 10 strokes apart will be adjusted. Pairings, Calcutta and Skins game for this event will be announced and collected at the Friday Night stag dinner at the pool.

These two events are invitational tournaments for qualifying MGA members only. The field will be made of 24 total participants and will be determined by POY rankings. Format of play is 18 holes of net stroke play. The Shootout will begin when the Top 10 on the Points List is determined. Handicaps are at 100%.

All players are subject to the MGA maximum handicap rule. The format of play is "Greenskeepers Revenge.” The course set-up will be tough!

Purpose and Goals:
The purpose of the Quail Hollow Men's Golf Association (MGA) is to develop, organize, and administer a golf tournament program that embodies and nurtures the traditions, sportsmanship, honor, courtesy and spirit of the game of golf.
The goal is to provide these values through spirited and quality competition, while affording maximum enjoyment and friendship. Structuring events and activities that bring the game to its highest level of enjoyment will achieve these goals.
Association Fees:
All male Golf Members of the MGA will be charged an annual association fee of $75. The fee will be on the March billing statement and will cover MGA dues. These dues are to be used only by the MGA to subsidize MGA events and functions. The MGA is a non-profit organization.
Tournament Types and Eligibility:
There are two types of tournaments offered within the MGA:
1. Mixed – MGA Members and Guests
2. MGA Members only.
To be eligible to participate in an MGA ONLY sponsored event, you must be an adult dues paying male Member in good standing with QHCC and meet requirements established for each tournament.
The Club Championship and Member/Guest will be OPEN to all Quail Hollow male Members. The Member/Member tournament will be restricted to MGA Members.
Entry Procedure:
To enter MGA events, participants must register for the event by Tuesday prior to the event. Members may register in the Golf Shop or by clicking on the website entry site. A waiting list will be established for late entries. The size of a field for MGA events is limited to 112 players.
To officially cancel from an MGA event, a cancellation notice must be given prior to Friday of the scheduled event. A player canceling after this time will be responsible for paying the appropriate entry fee. The MGA Tournament Committee may review special circumstances.
Starting Times:
1. Shotgun Start – This event requires all players to be present 15 minutes prior to the established time. All players will be assigned a specific hole to start on.
2. Tee Times – This event requires the players to report to the tee 10 minutes prior to their assigned tee time. Tee times are posted in and around the Golf Shop.
Awards and Prizes:
All MGA events will award prizes, trophies and/or gift certificates. The Golf Shop in accordance with MGA tournament results will issue all gift certificates. Gift certificates will be valid until December 23 of each year. There are some championship events where trophies or plaques will be presented at the season’s end.
Rules of Play:
All events will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf, except where modified by a Quail Hollow Local Rule. Each event will have a rule sheet designed to cover all pertinent information regarding the particular format, rules and agenda. A 3-member commission will be appointed for each tournament to assist the professional staff in running each tournament. All participants should be aware of a key section in the USGA Rules of Golf that covers player responsibilities (Rule 6 through Rule 9).
